"Cosmos on Sill"

Cosmos on Sill
oil, 8x10"

Cosmos bipinnatus are one of the most common annuals here in
the US. There are around 20 species of these beautiful
and colorful flowers.
I usually like to mix lobelia in with other flowers as I did here.

The Echinacea atrorubens also know as the Coneflower are native to
North America, they bloom in the summer and are very hardy perrinials. They
are in the daisy family and attract
butterfly's. What a nice addition to a garden!

"Hydrangeas and Lobelias"

Hydrangeas and Lobelias
oil, 8x10"

Most hydrangeas are white but also come in blue, pink, red and purple
depending on  the acidity in the soil. If the soil is neutral they become
more pale in color, pink and purple. If the soil is acidic they turn blue.
They originated from Asia, North and South America.
There are 100 species of the hydrangea shrub.
Flowers truly gain my interest, there are so many of them and are
so beautiful. I guess that's why I paint them.

"Geranium Cuttings"

"Geranium Cuttings"
Oil, 8x10"

I set these red geranium cuttings in olive jars in my studio,
the buds were starting to open, so I couldn't waste
time in painting them.
Love the reds against the green compliments.
